Yesterday afternoon a tornado went through North Minneapolis and did a lot of damage. Many trees and power lines are down, roofs removed and cars destroyed. Last night on the 10:00 news they showed the pictures, played the interviews and told the story.
In the middle of the interviews a woman talked about the fact that the truck she was driving started hopping on the road. She prayed to God “God save me – I’m not ready to die!”
This simple phrase “I’m not ready to die.” is the cry of the lost in need of the life saving Grace of the Risen Christ. We live in a world where all to many people are not ready to die. We are called to use the Spirit of the Risen Christ in us to share the joy of really living, by putting death behind us.
20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 (NIV)
I contend that unless you are ready to die – you are not ready to live either! Life with out the certainty of the Gospel is a life of hopelessness, a constant looking of your shoulder, a life filled with anxiety.
So what are you going to do today to help get someone ready to die?
