What does Glory look like? When I hear the word I think of colored lights, a bright glow – the twinkle of that dreaded glitter that never goes away.  I also hear the sound of strings, with majestic brass in the background.  But Christmas reminds us that is not what glory looked like or sounded like.  It looked like Jesus, born in a manger wrapped in rags, and place among the animal’s food. It looked like a 12-year-old boy teaching the in the temple. It looked like a rabbi who was often found to be hanging out with ex-fisherman.

Paul tells us that the Glory of God was seen in the face of Christ.  Just days after Jesus was born Mary was told about the sorrow that would come to her life, because of this tiny baby. Next time you see the image of Christ on the Cross – remember that’s God’s glory.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
