There are a lot of things in the Bible that amaze me: prophetic writings hundreds and thousands of years removed that take place with amazing detail, questions of the religious leaders though out Scripture, and the short term memory of God’s people which never seems to last more than a generation. I must admit today I found yet another amazing verse in the Bible, and I am guessing no one has it highlighted in their Bibles, yet.

It is the first and otherwise lost verse in an account of a time of teaching that Jesus shares with his disciples. The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. (Mark 8:14 NIV) I don’t know which is harder to believe, that Mark wrote it, or that Paul told him about it.  After the two miraculous feeding of 5,000 and then 4,000 where God’s perfect and abundant provision are shown, they still worry about bread?
The saddest part is, I get it… I live it… My short term memory also so often fails to remember and trust in God’s provision.  How about you? Worried about Bread today?
